Since 1990, our unique after-school and summer programs have been transforming the lives of thousands of youth, laying the foundation of creativity, confidence and life skills needed to launch them into meaningful and fulfilling lives. 

Signing up is easy, and our classes are free. We place youth in our own classes, secure scholarships for partner programs, and organize special field trips, workshops and performances.

We also provide wraparound services like transportation to and from class, healthy snacks and meals, program gear and supplies, and access to trusted coaches and mentors.

Children (5-12) 

Baton Twirling 

Age 5-7

Baton is a fun way for kids to develop hand-eye and total-body coordination, rhythm, timing, poise, gracefulness, endurance, and self-discipline. Students also get opportunities to perform at local events and parades. 

Modern Dance & Praise Dance

Age 7-10

This class is a safe space where kids can express themselves freely through movement. Students learn basic skills and concepts including creativity, sensory awareness, healthy physical development, non-verbal communication, movement, sensory play, and teamwork.

Gardening & Eco-Arts

Age 3-9

Toddlers through grade-schoolers learn about gardening and how to use the things they grow, like healthy snacks and yummy fruit jams. This program also offers kids creative ways to express themselves through recycled-materials crafts, while being outside and making friends.

Melody Makers

Age 5-12

This interactive music program introduces students to singing and playing a variety of instruments from many cultures, as well as learning the fundamentals of reading and writing music.

Civic Stars

Age 8-12

This exciting program brings students together to create and perform presentations and plays about local history and national cultural history. Kids learn to have civic pride and share with their community while gaining valuable skills like confidence, communication, and self-esteem.

Grace & Greatness

Age 5-12

Through hands-on and experiential activities, this dynamic etiquette program teaches skills for success such as:

  • basic manners and table manners

  • social skills and communication skills

  • social cues and friendship-building

  • self-esteem and confidence

  • personal health and wellness

  • conflict resolution and cultivating a positive attitude

Social Justice Youth Initiative (SJYI)

Social Justice Youth Initiative

Our dynamic program for older youth builds self-confidence, racial and environmental justice awareness, and community organizing & advocacy skills. Students get opportunities to meet like-minded youth, practice leadership, and see firsthand how educated, involved people can make a difference in their schools, communities, and government. 

Historical Legacy & Representation

  • Multi-media education such as a fascinating film series on African American contributions and struggles in the U.S.

  • Field trips to places like the historic town of Allensworth, CA, for a Juneteenth celebration and community clean-up day

Civic Education & Leadership

  • Coaching in how to participate in local government and community affairs

  • Hands-on activities like mock elections, helping with the census, and get-out-the-vote campaigns 

Internships

Performing Stars connects youth with exciting summer internship opportunities with our community partners, such as the Golden Gate National Park’s Summer Program for high school students focused on community building, service learning and exploring local parklands.

Scholarships  

With our vast network of partners in Marin and beyond, we stay informed of all the opportunities available to kids, teens and young adults. We work hard to secure scholarships and admission tickets, place youth in the right partner classes, camps, and internships and support them along the way. Please reach out for more info.

Field Trips

We connect youth with workshops, presentations, concerts and performances to broaden their knowledge and their horizons. Ballet and tap performances, the symphony, Lion King show and cast meet-and-greet, photo shoots with makeup and costumes—these are just a few of the exciting excursions our Stars have enjoyed.
